Did you just get started on your clear aligner treatments? If so, congratulations! You are on your way to getting beautiful, straight teeth. Today, we’re sharing a few tips on taking care of your clear aligners:

  • Clean your aligners after you remove them

If you are taking your aligners off to eat, brush your teeth, or floss, clean them before you put them back on. Your aligners are filled with bacteria from your mouth. Reduce your risk of an infection by doing a quick cleaning between uses. Here’s an easy-to-follow video:

  • Clean your case

When you start your clear aligner treatment, you’ll get a case for your aligners. Because you usually put your aligners in your case between uses, make sure you clean your case too. It harbors the same bacteria from your mouth, since it’s where your aligners go when you remove them. Use a gentle soap and rinse thoroughly.

  • Brush and floss your teeth

To keep the bacteria out of your own mouth, brush and floss your teeth before you put your aligners back on. This is especially important if you remove your aligners to eat something or drink a beverage other than water.
