Most of our dental treatments, like same-day root canals and dental crowns, focus on helping you keep your smile intact. Still, there are times when you’ll need tooth removal in Visalia. When you do, you can trust your procedure to our veteran team.
Your extraction will go smoothly because:
If you think you need to have a tooth removed, call us today at 559-608-3533. Our dentists are happy to offer you a free second opinion if you need one.
Once you’ve had a tooth removed, it’s a good idea to replace it as soon as possible. That’s because when you lose a tooth, the bone surrounding it begins to break down. Studies show you can lose up to 25 percent of your bone density within a year of losing a tooth. This affects your facial appearance, making you look older.
Fortunately, we offer multiple ways of replacing teeth with dental implants, which will prevent this loss of bone:
If implants aren’t for you, you can choose a conventional dental bridge or dentures instead.

In some cases, one of our dentists may need to remove a tooth or two from a patient receiving braces – especially those who are already experiencing crowding. This creates adequate room for teeth to move into their proper positions. Not all patients will need an extraction. We examine you with advanced technology like digital X-rays to determine if any teeth need to be removed.
Bleeding won’t last long if you apply pressure to the extraction site with a clean piece of gauze. Gently biting down on it works well. If bleeding continues, you can substitute a damp tea bag (black tea) for the gauze. Tannins in the tea encourage blood clotting. You may experience slight oozing (a lot of saliva with a little blood) for up to 48 hours. Keeping your head elevated will help it stop.
A dry socket occurs if blood doesn’t clot at your extraction site or if the blood clot comes loose before the wound heals. The primary symptom is pain that increases instead of lessens in the first few days after extraction. If you have dry socket, you’ll need to return to our office so we can thoroughly clean the site and apply medication that will help. Following our post-op instructions will help prevent this problem.
