Many people have the wrong idea about root canal treatment. TV shows and movies would have you believe that a root canal is still one of the most horrible experiences that you could go through.
At our office, however, nothing could be further from the truth. Contrary to popular belief, a root canal is designed to get rid of your pain, not cause you more of it. Our root canal patients report that they don’t experience any more discomfort than if they were having a tooth filling put in. Advances in technology and treatment methods help ensure that your procedure will be comfortable. Our goal is to help you feel better after your treatment, not cause you any more pain.
Root canal treatment is routine here and can often be completed in a single visit:
For best results, we recommend capping your newly repaired tooth with a beautiful crown. We can make your crown right here in our office using the CAD/CAM technology of our CEREC machine.
We can then place your crown and make any final adjustments to make sure it fits perfectly and looks just as it should. You’ll leave our office pain-free with a beautifully restored tooth – all in one easy visit!

At our office they can! Sealing a treated tooth with a dental crown to protect it from further damage is usually the final step of a root canal. Most practices have your crown manufactured at an outside dental lab, which means you’ll wait at least a few days for it. With our CEREC system, we make your crown in our office, which means you can receive it on the same day.
In very rare instances, a tooth that has undergone a root canal can become infected again. An experienced dentist will ensure all bacteria is removed from your tooth during treatment. The tooth then receives a dental crown, which protects it from decay and other kinds of damage. There is normally very little, if any, discomfort following root canal therapy. If your tooth hurts, call us ASAP.
While root canals have developed a reputation as a painful procedure, the reality is different for most people. Our patients tell us a root canal doesn’t feel much different from having a cavity repaired. We thoroughly numb your mouth with local anesthesia, so you shouldn’t feel any pain. Unlike an extraction, there is no bleeding and little if any discomfort during recovery.
A root canal procedure removes infected material from inside your tooth. Left untreated, you will lose your tooth to the infection. Not only that, but it’s possible for infection to spread to other areas of your mouth and even elsewhere in your body. Your only two options for removing the infection are a root canal or an extraction.
We can see you as soon as tomorrow!
