If you’re like many people, your annual dental insurance benefits are offered on a January through December calendar year. With just a month-and-a-half left in 2021, it’s time to use your benefits so you don’t lose them! We accept all dental insurance plans, other than HMOs and Medi-Cal.

To take full advantage of your insurance benefits you’ll want to:

  • Visit Us for Preventive Care – Many insurance plans fully cover the costs of routine dental exams and cleanings, often two a year. These services are essential in keeping your teeth and gums healthy and avoiding the cost of repairing cavities and other dental damage. If you or your family members haven’t had exams yet this year, schedule them now!
  • Treat Problems in Early Stages – It’s always less expensive to treat problems in their earliest stages. This fact reinforces the importance of regular exams. If we find a small cavity, it will be easy and affordable to treat with a filling. If the decay is left untreated and gets worse, you may need a more costly dental crown or even a root canal. Our dentists will work with you to keep your care as affordable as possible.
  • Choose the Right Treatment – In some cases, you will have a choice for the type of treatment used to solve a problem. For example, we offer both metal fillings and non-metal composite ones. Many patients prefer tooth-colored composite fillings for more visible areas, but you may want to choose a less costly metal filling for back teeth.
  • Consider Annual Limits When Planning Treatment – Many insurance plans have an annual maximum, the total amount they will pay for your care in a 12-month period. In many cases, the benefit period is January through December. Benefits do not “roll over.” Since the amount will “reset” on January 1, you will lose any benefits you haven’t used in the prior months. Our team can work with you to ensure you receive the maximum benefit you are entitled to, without exceeding it. For example, if we recommend removing a tooth or teeth prior to orthodontic treatment, it may make sense to perform the extraction in 2021 but wait until 2022 to begin your treatment.
